The economic slowdown has impacted many sectors, but liquor sales in the state have increased since last year. State excise collections have risen by almost 10% in the nine-month span between April and December 2019-the first three quarters of the 2019-20 financial year -compared to the same period in 2018. But the collections remain short of the target and by the end of the financial year, the shortfall could amount to Rs 810 crore.
